Who We Are

Caraway is a nonprofit ministry located in the heart of NC about 8 miles West of Asheboro in the rolling hills of The Uwharrie Mountains. We are a Mighty Mountain of Faith providing ministry through hospitality to our guests and campers. We have three unique facilities on 1,100 beautiful acres of trees, hills, and trails. Groups as small as 10 and as large as 250 use Caraway Conference Center, Camp Caraway and Camp Mundo Vista to hold their retreats, conferences, training, camps, or to attend one of our year round programs.

Facility Use Policy

Caraway Conference Center and Camps is owned and operated by the Baptist state Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC). Use of our facilities by those not affiliated with the BSCNC does not imply alignment with-nor endorsement by- the BSCNC. We reserve the right to schedule or refuse anyone use of our facilities. Furthermore, our director holds the authority to close Caraway facilities during inclement weather that would adversely affect the safety of our guests and staff.

Caraway History

Camp Caraway was founded by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in 1963 and began as a camp for the boys’ mission program, Royal Ambassadors. We continued to carry the spirit of this program when we transitioned to a Christian camp for boys in the summer and began offering year round retreats for Baptist churches. In 1976, we built our Conference Center to extend gracious hospitality and friendly, Christ-like service to all our guests. We began offering summer camps for boys and girls in 2013, called Children’s Church Camp, to support and equip the ministry of local churches. But, one week during the summer, we hold true to our roots and hold a traditional all-boys camp.

We proudly host about 20,000 guests and campers per year at our three facilities. Whether a guest rental group, summer campers, or attendees to one of our senior programs. We strive to create an inviting atmosphere so God can speak, His voice can be heard, and His word will have an impact on the hearts of all those who step foot on our property.

Camp Mundo Vista History

Founded by the Women’s Missionary Union of North Carolina (WMUNC) in 1969, Camp Mundo Vista was dedicated to Christian Summer Camp Programming for the girls’ mission program, Girls in Action and Acteens. Throughout the rest of the year, it served as a retreat facility for missions, the ministry of churches, and nonprofits through the WMUNC.

Since 2019, WMUNC has entered into a Management Agreement with Caraway Conference Center and Camps. We now operate the facilities and summer camp programs with the same mission in mind: to offer a place of refuge that encourages spiritual growth and mission involvement through the camp experience. Through our one week of Summer camp for girls, mother-daughter retreats, and guest group rentals, our hope is to challenge our campers and guests to expand their horizons and shape their worldview through His Word.
